A few years ago I joined – what turned out to be – one of my favorite Facebook groups of all time. Social media brings together communities of all shapes and sizes, and as niche and simple as it is, The Border Collie Appreciation Group, has been a blast.  People around the world share pictures, stories, videos and questions about their border collies.

Recently I posted this photo, with the following caption:

Does anyone else’s Border sleep by the toilet like a drunk college student?!

The results were hilarious. 248 like and reactions later, here are some of my favorite posts.

We had a Corgi Lab mix that slept near the toilet. We thought he was the only one until we got Captain Morgan. In the pic he sleeps any where he can in the bathroom. He is a year now and still lays in there when he can.

That’s not exactly by the toilet, but on the bathroom floor!

No the border collie prefers her bed. But as for the college student …no comment.

Even IN the shower.

Every damn night, he’s got $100 bed but prefers the cold hard floor.

And behind the toilet.

What is the big takeaway? No matter where you are, or who you are, you are part of a tribe. This tribe might be a group of picture-taking, toilet-hugging dog lovers, but so be it. What a tribe has in common is the ability to answer questions with ease, because they understand one another. Sometimes, when something is special, you just can’t give it to the dogs.
